MELBOURNE, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 13, 2001

Bombardier Aerospace (TSE:BBD.A.) (TSE:BBD.B.) is pleased to announce that it has sold a second Global Express(R) business jet aircraft to the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) for use as a special mission

aircraft.

The JCAB, which ordered its first Global Express in November 1999, placed the following order last month after conducting extensive evaluations of several competing aircraft.

The JCAB intends to use its Global Express fleet for flight inspection and airways calibration within Japan. These tasks require excellent handling and stability at low altitudes and numerous low-speed approaches to airport runways. Global Express design features, such as its wing slats and flaps, make it ideal for this type of mission.

"The Bureau determined that the Global Express has the features and capabilities best suited to its special missions requirements," said Shawn Vick, senior vice-president, international sales, Bombardier Aerospace, Business Aircraft. "This most recent follow-on order further reinforces Bombardier's growing position as the world leader for special mission aircraft programs."

JCAB's first Global Express aircraft is currently undergoing final outfitting at Marshall Aerospace in Cambridge, U.K. prior to customer delivery, which is expected in the coming months.

"It's interesting to note that the Global Express has been chosen as a platform for the United Kingdom's Airborne Stand-Off Radar (ASTOR) system, which requires excellent performance at very high altitudes," noted Mr. Vick. "The versatility of this all-new aircraft design is quite remarkable and is being increasingly recognized as the platform-of-choice the world over."

Other decisive aircraft factors, for both orders, were the Global Express' electrical power generating ability, large cabin size, performance and future growth potential. Bombardier's ability to design, integrate, test, build and support special mission aircraft with in-house resources is contributing to the success of the aircraft in special mission applications.

The Global Express is a business jet unlike any other. It is engineered to provide precious time savings in the most comfortable and productive cabin environment. Certified to the latest and most stringent regulations by both North American (FAA and Transport Canada) and European (JAA) airworthiness authorities, it flies faster, farther than any other business aircraft and accesses the most challenging airfields in isolated locations.
