Two executives of British Airways are reportedly to leave the company following the problems the airline encountered by the transfer to the new Terminal 5 at London's Heathrow Airport in the UK, last month.
The two
The airline announced the departures of Kirkwood and Noyes before noon on 15 April, without discussing the circumstances, although it has stated that Kirkwood's role as director of operations will be merged with the role of director of customer services, held by Noyes.
British Airways experienced problems following its recent move to the new terminal, with its luggage system crashing and passengers boarding flights without their bags, a situation which has reportedly cost the airline GBP16m plus.
Kirkwood apologised to passengers in front of TV cameras on the terminal's opening day, while an inquest held after the launch identified that some of the problems arose because staff were not familiar with the new terminal.
The departure of Kirkwood and Noyes is expected to increase pressure on the airline's chief executive, Willie Walsh, according to the Telegraph.
