THE aviation industry has experienced arguably the worst three weeks in its peacetime history. But reports of consumer and business confidence from across the transport sector have been mixed.

British Airways said last week it had seen transatlantic traffic drop by 60% in the wake of the attacks, costing it [pound]40m. It has cut 190 flights and 7,000 jobs.
