Sep. 30--EMIRATES IN EMERGENCY LANDING: An Emirates flight from Dubai to Singapore was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Chennai airport in India, following a smoke detector alert in the cargo compartment, the airline said. All 309 passengers and 18 crew were safe and were scheduled to fly on to Singapore late on September 29 in a replacement plane.
