Horizon to Fly Larger Planes to Port Angeles;Completes Fleet Transition in Seattle.

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 2, 1997--Horizon Air said today that starting December 7 it will operate only de Havilland Dash 8 turboprops on its five daily flights to Port Angeles.

"The all-Dash 8 service will increase the total number of seats available to Port Angeles by more

than 50 percent," said Pat Zachwieja, vice president of marketing and planning. "And customers are sure to enjoy the added comfort of the Dash 8 aircraft." Currently Horizon operates one daily flight to Port Angeles with the 37 passenger Dash 8. The remaining four are operated with 18 passenger Metroliners.

The new flight schedule also marks Horizon's transition to larger aircraft at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. After December 7, every Horizon flight from Sea-Tac will be operated with either the Fokker F28 twin jet or Dash 8 aircraft.

The Dash 8 is manufactured in Downsview, Ontario, Canada, by Bombardier Regional Aircraft. The $10 million aircraft features a two-by-two seating configuration in which nearly every passenger enjoys a window or aisle seat. The cabin includes overhead storage bins and a rest room. There is a cockpit crew of two and a flight attendant on board for passenger safety and inflight service.

To make the transition from the Metroliner to an all Dash 8 turboprop fleet, Horizon is acquiring new Dash 8 -200Qs. The -200Q is an updated version of the Dash 8-100 which Horizon currently operates. The -200Q includes Global Position (GPS) avionics and state-of-the-art sound dampening technology. Horizon's fleet also includes Fokker F28 twin jets.

Horizon and sister company Alaska Airlines are Seattle's dominant carriers. The two airlines offer the most flights to the most cities throughout the Northwest, Alaska, Arizona, California, Canada, Mexico and the Russian Far East.
