Spirit Airlines has completed its installation of cockpit-reinforcing devices and locking systems on its fleet of scheduled aircraft. The airline is entering an expanded phase of aircraft security
"We realize this is an added expense and additional weight in the aircraft, but we are committed to the security of our passengers and crew," said Ned Homfeld, chairman and founder of Spirit Airlines. "This is just one of the many, new security details we are attending to."
Homfeld said the airline would target completion of the steel door reinforcement by late November in time for holiday travel.
