New First Class on All Nippon Airways Delivers Unmatched Comfort and Privacy Daily to Tokyo.

Business Editors/Travel Writers

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 2003

ANA (All Nippon Airways) will introduce New First Class, a completely redesigned service offering unmatched comfort and privacy on its daily non-stop flights between New York (JFK) and Tokyo starting May 4.

The centerpiece of New First Class is the "Widest Bed Seat," 33 inches wide and enclosed in a cubicle for privacy. There are 10 seats in the New First Class cabin on ANA's Boeing 747-400 aircraft.

In developing New First Class, ANA surveyed 5,000 of its top customers, for whom the two most desired features of an airline seat were "complete privacy," cited by 75% of respondents, and "horizontal recline like a bed." Based on these findings, ANA's goal was to create a fully reclining and relaxing seat-bed enclosed in a private space.

Osamu Kawabata, ANA Senior Vice President and General Manager The Americas, said, "Customer reaction to New First Class has been overwhelming since it was introduced on ANA's daily London-Tokyo flights in December.

"We anticipate our New York passengers will be equally enthusiastic about the unprecedented level of privacy, comfort and convenience of New First Class."

New First Class features include:

Widest Bed Seat

-- The seat is approximately 33 inches (84 cm) wide, roughly 50% wider than existing ANA First Class seats, making it the world's widest airline bed-seat.

-- The armrests and seat cushion combine to create a flat sleeping surface approximately 33 inches (84 cm) wide by 76 inches (196 cm) long, enough space for a person well over six feet tall to relax in comfort. The two seats in the center of the Boeing 747-400 cabin form beds 80 inches long.

-- Employs form-fitting pressure relief cushioning for maximum comfort.

-- Down-filled pillows and duvet encased in fine silk and a new feature, sheets.

Single-Seat "Private Room" Configuration

-- The cabin features a spacious single-seat configuration, with

each seat enclosed in a cubicle for privacy. The number of

seats reduced to 10, from 14, and arranged in a single-seat

configuration, with two seats in the center.

-- A movable divider separates the two center seats. By adjusting

the divider, these seats can be used as a single pair seat.

World-Class Digital Entertainment

-- Every seat is equipped with a 15-inch personal TV, the airline

industry's largest.

-- Digital Audio and Video On Demand (AVOD), with 58 channels of

interactive entertainment on 20 movie/video channels, 28 music

channels with 400 tunes/tracks, and 10 game channels.

-- Noise-reduction headsets to block out ambient noise.

New a la Carte Menu

-- As befits a "private room" setting, a la carte service will be

introduced, enabling First Class customers to select their

favorite dishes at a specified time, and in a specified

quantity according to their personal preferences.

-- A selection of new teas for refreshment and relaxation from L'

Epicier, the renowned Japanese specialty shop. Selections

include black, herb, Chinese and other quality teas.

Office in the Sky

-- Personal telephone that can be used in complete privacy

-- Universal power ports for notebook computers

Larger Lavatory, New Changing Room

-- The lavatory has been enlarged, and can be used as a changing

room.

-- In addition to its much more comfortable feel, the new

ANA-designed lavatory has a crystal-blue sink, vanity mirror

and special lighting.

-- Separate changing room space is provided, with curtains for

privacy.
