Frontier to start flights to Chicago, Phoenix, end flights to 4 Montana points.

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 1995--Denver-based Frontier Airlines (NASDAQ:FRNT) today said it will end its present service to four cities in Montana effective Sept. 25 in order to enter two high-demand markets that day - Denver to Chicago (via Midway Airport) and Denver to Phoenix.

The

two new markets will be served with Boeing 737-200 twinjets now flying on Frontier's less-traveled routes from Denver to Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls and Missoula, Mont.

When the route shift takes place, Frontier will continue to serve its six other markets between Denver and Las Vegas, Omaha, Albuquerque, El Paso, and Bismarck and Fargo, N.D., in some cases with fewer frequencies.

Thirteen-month-old Frontier said it plans to schedule three daily roundtrips on its new Denver-Chicago/Midway route and two between Denver and Phoenix.

Redeployment of the carrier's existing aircraft supersedes Frontier's earlier announced intent to enter new markets by increasing the capacity of its fleet with the addition of three 82-seat BAe 146 quad-jets.

"The 146 is a fine aircraft," said Frontier President Sam Addoms, "but as we got deeper and deeper into our analysis it became clear that it just wouldn't work on our particular route system."

Addoms said the carrier's future plans call for the addition of jets in the 140-passenger range to its present fleet of five 108-seat Boeing 737-200s. The larger jets will be used to further strengthen the airline's Denver hub with new flights to key cities on the west coast as well as points east of Denver.

Flights schedules and deep discount fares for the new service to Chicago/Midway and Phoenix will be announced later this month, Frontier said. The information will be displayed in all four of the major computer reservations systems used by travel agents.

Frontier launched its first flights on July 5, 1994. Its national reservation number is 1-800-4321-FLY.
