The Canadian government has invested $287 million in infrastructure improvement at the Canada-United States border. The funding is earmarked for southern Ontario, Canada, border crossings in an effort to keep the flow of trade and tourism moving efficiently. Funding will be provided for the following
* $39 million to install a special lane for pre-cleared commercial drivers at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge at Queenston, Ontario as well as a dedicated lane on Highway 405 leading to the bridge for those drivers;
* Projects totaling $42 million to upgrade the Peace Bridge crossing at Fort Erie, Ontario;
* Projects totaling $114 million to improve the Queen Elizabeth Way in southern Ontario, which is the principal trade corridor to four major border crossings; and
* Projects totaling $116.5 million to improve access to the Blue Water Bridge at Point Edward, Ontario, which is Canada's second busiest truck border crossing.
