USMI marks double RIB delivery.
United States Marine Inc. (USMI), Gulfport, Miss., recently delivered two 11 m NSW Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) to the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSO-COM). The deliveries had double meaning; they were the 99th and 100th delivered by USMI to USSOCOM and the first scheduled deliveries by the new Gulfport shipyard since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. USMI relocated to the new facility in Gulfport, Miss., last year, following the destruction of its New Orleans facility by Hurricane Katrina. The 40-knot NSW RIBs are each powered by 470 hp Caterpillar 3126 diesel engines that drive KaMeWa waterjets.
