CC Promotes Several To Regional VP Post

Clear Channel announces several promotions to regional VP positions. WSIX Nashville VP/market manager Dave Alpert adds regional duties for several Tennessee markets. Tampa, Fla., VP/market manager Dave Reinhart adds the Gulf Coast region. Dave Ross, VP/market manager for Miami and the Florida Keys, adds

duties for Southern Florida, including Vero Beach and South Dade. Mobile, Ala., VP/ market manager David Coppock takes on responsibilities for Pensacola and Panama City, Fla.; Biloxi, Miss., and Alabama markets Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery, Muscle Shoals, and Tuscaloosa.

Charleston, S.C., VP/market manager Alene Grevey adds oversight of Columbia, S.C.; Savannah, Ga.; and Augusta, Ga. Memphis VP/market manager Bruce Demps does the same for Jackson, Miss.; Jackson, Tenn.; and three other Mississippi markets. Atlanta VP/market manager Pat McDonnell adds seven markets, including Chattanooga, Tenn., and Albany and Columbus, Ga. Josh McGraw is named president of Clear Channel/ Jacksonville, Fla., underscoring his involvement with TV and outdoor as well.

Raleigh, N.C., regional VP/market manager Mark Kopelman becomes regional VP for the North Carolina region. West Palm Beach, Fla., regional VP/market manager Skip Schmidt adds regional duties for Charlotte, Statesville, Waynesville, and Asheville, N.C., and Greenville, S.C.

In the Northeast region, Boston executive VP Jake Karger becomes regional VP for all markets in Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, except Springfield, Mass. Manuel Rodriguez becomes regional VP for Connecticut; Vermont; Springfield, Mass.; and New York state markets, except Long Island and Poughkeepsie.

In other news, Cumulus/Albany, Ga., market manager Bob Hearion exits. Cumulus/Tallahassee, Fla., market manager John Columbus becomes interim manager in Albany.

PROGRAMMING: A SLAM DUNK

WYYD/WJLM Roanoke, Va., morning man Slam Duncan is promoted to PD/afternoon host for WJLM. Chris O'Kelley remains PD/MD for WYYD. WQMX Akron, Ohio, MD/midday host Toni Foxx joins WYYD for mornings and will also assume assistant music duties. O'Kelley is taking T&Rs for morning co-host. Meanwhile, former WQMX night jock Shannon Alexander returns to the station for middays. PD Kevin Mason and APD Ken Steele will split MD responsibilities.

WGAR Cleveland director of programming Kevin Metheney assumes those duties for the Clear Channel/Cleveland cluster, adding responsibilities for top 40 WAKS, album rock WMMS, and adult top 40 WMVX. He already oversaw programming for country WGAR, oldies WMJI, and N/T WTAM.

'80s oldies WBZJ/WBZH PD Jim Rising adds director of broadcast operations duties for Entercom/Wilkes-Barre, Pa., including WGGY (Froggy 101), which loses middayer Brian MacAfee to the afternoons/ imaging job at WRBT (Bob 94.9) Harrisburg, Pa. He replaces Joey Dean, who exited. PD Shelley Easton assumes MD duties.

WAKT (Kat Country) Panama City Beach, Fla., PD/morning man Banana Joe Montione exits, as does his wife, morning co-host Kris Montione.

WKRO (US 93) Daytona Beach, Fla., hires new PD J.J. King, replacing John Anthony Kehoe, who exited several months ago. King was PD at Zimmer Broadcasting's AC KLSC Malden, Mo.

WQYK-FM Tampa, Fla., has partnered with local ABC-TV affiliate WFTS to create Hot Country Hits, a country-music video show that debuted Sept. 22. The 30-minute show is hosted by WQYK morning man Skip Mahaffey and WFTS anchor Bob Kendrick.

PEOPLE: CODY AILING

Get-well wishes to WSM-AM Nashville morning man Bill Cody, who began a stay at Baptist Hospital Sept. 18. Diagnosed with a platelet disorder more than seven years ago, Cody's hospitalization resulted from coronary clotting that caused decreased blood flow to his heart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Red Cross Freedom Fund through Bank of America.

WCOL Columbus, Ohio, hires former WXTU Philadelphia morning host Steve Harmon for similar duties, replacing Woody Johnson.

Su-Anna Bear joins KWJJ Portland, Ore., for middays, replacing Lola Montgomery, who segued to KATM Modesto, Calif. Bear was last at WYCD (Young Country) Detroit.

WRWD Poughkeepsie, N.Y., afternoon drive host Tommy Lee Walker adds APD/MD duties. He replaces Paty Quyn, who will concentrate on her creative services director position.

Syndicator Radio One Networks ups country morning man Prince Mayne to APD of country formats.

WXCY Wilmington, Del., hires WHKX (Kix 106) Bluefield, W.Va., morning host Brian Holsten for wake-ups, replacing J.P. Owens, who opts for a career in public relations.

WCTO (Cat Country 96) Allentown, Pa., weekender Marlee McKay segues to the overnight slot on AC sister WLEV. APD/MD Bobby Knight is seeking new weekenders and wants T&Rs.
