Menlo Park, Calif. — For the second year in a row, Jacksonville, Fla., ranks as the most economical location for corporate meetings, according to results generated by GetThere's online meeting-planning tool, GetThere DirectMeetings.
Columbus, Ohio, and Raleigh, N.C.,
both new to the list, followed in second and third place, respectively. Rounding out the list of top 10 cities are the following, in order: Knoxville, Tenn.; Nashville, Tenn.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Greensboro, N.C.; Norfolk, Va.; Milwaukee, Wis.; and Harrisburg, Pa.
To identify the top 10 cities, GetThere planned a mock three-night, four-day meeting made up of 100 attendees, with two attendees coming from each of the top 50 most populated cities as ranked by the U.S. Census Bureau.
Cities evaluated had a minimum of 25 three- or four-star hotels that included business services as part of their amenities, from GetThere DirectMeetings' database of 12,000 properties. The system factored in costs for air and ground transport, lodging, meeting rooms, audiovisual equipment, and estimated food and beverage. Results were tabulated and ranked based on overall meeting costs.
