Montego Bay, Jamaica — The Wyndham Rose Hall Resort & Country Club recently completed the renovation of its seaside golf course, the Three Palms Ocean Course.
Named in several "best of the Caribbean" rankings over the years, Three Palms was redesigned by renowned
course architect Robert Von Hagge. The $4 million refit includes new greens, tee boxes and cart paths, rebuilt fairways and an improved irrigation system.
Indigenous and historical Jamaican features also were incorporated, including the nearby ruins of early aqueducts and sugar mills. Some ocean-view holes were added, and the course was made more challenging.
A legendary aside: The name Three Palms derives from the notion that Annee Palmer, owner of the original 18th century Rose Hall Plantation, murdered her three husbands and secretly buried each under separate palm trees on the beach. There's no word if these features were incorporated into the new course design.
