PROJECT OVERVIEW:
An international joint venture that teams-up Egyptian, Saudi Arabian and Kuwaiti investors is now gearing-up to build a new export-oriented oil refinery in Egypt. Construction plans under consideration call for building a plant with an installed processing capacity of 130,000 barrels per day of mainly local Egyptian heavy crude in addition to some imports. The new Greenfield facility, to be sited in al-Ain al-Sokhna, east of Cairo on the Red Sea coast, is expected to require an investment in excess of $1,000,000,000 to complete.
