PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local OMAN CEMENT CO. currently operates a cement plant with an installed production capacity of 1.6 million tons per year (t/y). However, the company's production output declined to 405,267 tons during the first 3 months of 2005 from 412,260 tons a year ago, prompting the firm to import some 41,183 tons to meet high demand due to several housing and infrastructure projects.
