U.S. practices need tweaking in South America

Despite its geographical proximity to the United States, South America is a land apart in many respects. For companies hoping to do business there, the region has long posed a challenging paradox, as an area with abundant resources and huge economic potential, but traditionally plagued by economic and political instability and border rivalries.
