The main export markets for Indonesia's pearls in the past five years have been Japan, Singapore, South Korea, USA and Germany. The other export markets include Italy, Britain and Hong Kong. In 1989, Indonesia exported 180 tons of pearls, worth US$ 924, or 33% of its total pearls exports, to South Korea; 120 tons, worth US$ 975,000 to Singapore and 96 tons, worth US$ 8,262,000, to Japan.
