Exports of polished diamonds from Israel continued to rise in terms of U.S. dollars over the first four months of 2005, when compared to the corresponding period a year earlier, but in carat terms fewer exports were recorded.
According to data supplied by Diamond Controller's Office at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, $2.29 billion worth of polished diamonds were exported during the period from January through April 2005, after returned goods had been accounted for, 6.3 percent more than the $2.14 billion that were registered during the same period in 2004.
