Dear readers,
The export and import results of the Israel diamond industry for the first five months of 2002 indicate that a real turnaround in the diamond market appears to be underway. According to figures provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, exports of polished diamonds, after returned goods have been accounted for, rose 15.6 percent in U.S. dollar terms compared to the first five months of 2001. If this pace is maintained, the industry will come close to matching the record-breaking figures that were reported in 2000, the Millennium year.
