On March 30, the Israel Diamond Exchange awarded its first "Israel Diamond Industry Outstanding Exporter" award, which recognizes a member of the diamond trade who has made a special contribution to the development of exports from Israel. The first recipient of the award was Lev Leviev, the owner of LLD Diamonds, who in 2002 was listed as the country's leading polished diamond exporter, with overseas sales valued at $514 million.
