Roadway Express, Inc. (Nasdaq:ROAD) announces its expanded participation in the U.S. Customs' Pre-Arrival Processing System (PAPS), which now extends to all major crossing points at the northern U.S./Canadian
Roadway and its Canadian subsidiary, Reimer Express Lines Ltd., have been involved with U.S. Customs in the development of PAPS over the past several years, and were among the first few carriers selected as participants in its pilot project. "Participation in PAPS is one more reason that Roadway consistently provides the expedient cross-border transportation services that shippers rely on," said Vice President of International for Roadway, Bob Carr. Border locations where Roadway and Reimer Express Lines Ltd. now participate in PAPS include Port Huron, MI; Champlain and Niagara Falls, NY; and Pembina, ND - with plans to include Detroit, MI and Blaine, WA in early 2001. The company's expanded participation has been welcomed by local U.S. Customs officials and the customs brokerage communities at these customs ports, as they have worked in cooperation with Roadway at each location for successful implementation.
