German state opens local trade office

Officials from metro Detroit and Germany are hoping for greater business ties between Southeast Michigan and Berlin now that the Brandenburg Economic Development Office is open for business in Farmington Hills.

Richard Blouse, president of the Detroit Regional Chamber, called the office, which opened Thursday, a crucial link to the economic development of the Berlin and Detroit regions. ``It speaks very highly of Detroit as an industrial center and automotive capital of the world,'' he said.
