State College, Pa., Community Arts Theater Given to Nonprofit Group.

Nov. 14--STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--No longer does a sword hang over plans for a downtown State College community arts theater.

Sid and Helen Friedman, owners of the vacant State Theatre, had agreed to give the historic College Avenue venue to the volunteer nonprofit group State Theatre Inc. if it could raise the $3 million needed to restore it by Dec. 31.

But on Thursday, State Theatre Inc. announced the Friedmans had waived the deadline and would transfer
