The travel portal eDreams has launched Spanish versions of its eDreams Pro and eDreams Club programs aimed at travel agencies.
The Spain launch follows the company?s success in Italy, where
eDreams is an e-commerce travel portal offering consumers and wholesalers a choice of vacations and holiday advice. Lately, it has been trying to diversify its revenue stream by providing technology-based solutions to the travel business on top of selling vacations and carrying advertisements.
Of its new solutions, eDreams Pro offers client travel agencies an engine for booking holiday packages. In Spain, this is to enable users to consult and reserve holiday packages and special offers from tour operators in real time.
eDreams Club increases web traffic to affiliated agencies, and thus sales of their holiday packages. eDreams has entered into an agreement with Barcelo Group to sign up more than 260 travel agencies belonging to the group eDreams Club in Spain.
As a result, more than 15,000 daily visitors to eDreams make reservations and buy directly at the bricks and mortar offices of Barcel? Viajes.
In 2001, eDreams had revenues of E16m, and plans to increase this by 50 per cent this year. It completed 18,500 sales last year. Having started in 1999, the company is not yet profitable, but has become one of the leading holiday travel sites in both Italy and Spain. ((Distributed via M2 Communications Ltd - http://www.m2.com))
