About 1,300 companies, and 10 times as many attendees, gathered for National Manufacturing Week March 3-6 in snowy Chicago. The show has gotten smaller in recent years, but those willing to risk the cold found a number of exciting products.

Our report focuses mainly on NDES (National Design Engineering Show), one of the event's several pavilions (others included tooling and manufacturing, physical plant, and fluids; new sections covered wireless technology and e-learning).
