State of California implements Micro-Frame's ProjectServer; State of California aims to increase...

ONTARIO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 1995--Micro-Frame Technologies, Inc. is announcing the purchase and implementation of Project Server, a Microsoft Project based multiproject planning system by the Telecommunications Division of the State of California.

The Telecommunications division

handles 700 to 800 projects at any one time and will utilize Project Server to implement, track and manage these projects. Organizational effectiveness will be increased by putting this planning tool in the hands of those responsible and accountable for project performance.

"We anticipate that our productivity gains using Project Server will increase up to 25% in the future, specifically by eliminating several hours of extra status meetings that are held for each project," stated Joe Fallon, senior engineer, State of California, Telecommunications Division. "We are now able to pull together all the information on various projects stored in multiple copies of Project 4.0. By utilizing various filters we can access information faster and spend more time on customer support and better service. This will allow our customers (state agencies) to better serve the tax payer."

ProjectServer is the third product in Micro-Frame's Business Engine family of integrated planning, analysis, and decision support software using client/server technology. ProjectServer is a central database which provides a rich source of current planning information for staff and management personnel at a department or enterprise level. This same database provides historical data, information about related projects and activities and schedule information. This prevents the "reinventing of the wheel" and allows for more resource time for projects.

"We are pleased to have ProjectServer used by the Telecommunications Division of the State of California," stated John O'Neil, Micro-Frame president and CEO. "We are working closely with the Telecommunications Division to ensure that the right level of information is input into the systems and all the features are utilized to help increase productivity and save money for the State of California."

The Telecommunications Division provides telecommunication design, implementation, and maintenance for state services (i.e. California Highway Patrol, California Department of Transportation, California Department of Forestry and State Parks and Recreation Department); seven to eight hundred projects ranging from 30 to 600 tasks each. The division standardized on the Microsoft Office suite within the past year and is currently working in a Novell Netware-based LAN environment with 150 copies of Microsoft Project, with future plans to expand their WAN environment statewide.

"We have expended a lot of effort to prepare people for this shift in procedure," stated Joe Fallon, senior engineer, State of California, Telecommunications Division. "It is the focus of upper management to improve our project management capabilities and they have invested the time and money to make this a positive and cost-effective effort overall. We are pleased to be working with Micro-Frame in an effort to reach this goal."
