REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Dec. 22, 1998--Oceania, Inc.(R) is pleased to announce that James M. Busby has joined the company as Vice President, Commercial Sales.
The addition of Busby is a key element in Oceania's strategy to expand its presence in the commercial health care
Busby's 20 years of experience in health care systems sales have been focused on practice management systems, electronic health records, and voice recognition technology. He spent six years with Kurzweil Applied Intelligence, now part of Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products (L&H), Oceania's strategic partner for voice recognition technology.
Commenting on his new role, Busby stated, "Oceania is dedicated to gaining physician acceptance of automation in their delivery of care, and my work in pioneering voice recognition technology solutions in clinical settings has given me a unique appreciation for the challenges involved in this goal. I have always considered Oceania the premier vendor for clinical documentation. Enhancing Oceania's products with voice technology will make it even easier for physicians to automate their clinical documentation, and will greatly advance physician acceptance of information tools in care delivery."
Oceania's innovative technology enables automated capture, access and communication of clinical documentation. Oceania's WAVE(R) Electronic Health Record, Clinical Knowledge Base, and Oceania Notes components provide easy methods for entering and storing the patient health information that is traditionally handwritten or transcribed.
Oceania offers its patented WAVE technology as either a stand-alone application or as integrated components in other systems. The components can be deployed on a wide variety of hardware and software platforms. Systems vendors, developers, and end users can now embed Oceania's Clinical Knowledge Base and Oceania Notes within their own applications. Kaiser Permanente, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the State Department have selected Oceania products for clinical deployment. Oceania is privately held.
