MonsterCommerce set for Major Upgrade
MonsterCommerce is a provider of online ecommerce solutions and they're headed for a major update!
For the past few years, there hasn't been much development on their platform so it's interesting to note that come spring/summer, there will be a major migration to a new platform for its merchants.
MonsterCommerce merchants are currently on version 4.x of their shopping cart system. The new system is dubbed Version 7. According to the MonsterCommerce forums on this subject, it's an entirely new platform built from the ground up. That implies that it won't carry much over from the current platform other than, presumably, the functionality. MonsterCommerce has lagged behind on fixing a lot of issues since they were acquired by Network Solutions in December of 2005. Hopefully, this explains that lag.
MonsterCommerce will be providing its merchants a 30 day test window for the migration to Version 7. Current sites will be brought into Version 7 in 'test mode' for 30 days to give the merchant time to review the new site and make any necessary changes. This process will occur in the spring and summer of this year.
If you are considering MonsterCommerce as a shopping cart solution for your home-based business, you may have to wait until the new Version 7 is widely available (and tested out!).
