Take to Auction (AMEX:TTA) (www.taketoauction.com), a provider of online
The car is the first in a series of Marvel super hero-inspired automobiles to be listed by TTA Motors, a subsidiary of Take to Auction. The internationally renown Michael Israel airbrushed 3-D Spiderman images on the retro-styled Chrysler at the 13th Annual Downtown Boca Festival of the Arts, November 11, 2000.
"Our licensing agreement with Marvel gives us the chance to post custom, never-before-seen vehicles on eBay Motors that become instant collector's items as soon as the last stroke is painted," said Albert Friedman, President and CEO of Take to Auction.
The PT Cruiser was suspended by crane a few feet above the stage as Israel performed his signature act before the live art festival crowd. The vehicle, one of Chrysler's hottest selling cars, was then posted on eBay November 11 - 21, 2000.
Take To Auction will donate 80 percent of the profit from the auction of the vehicle to the Jackson Memorial Foundation's pediatric oncology efforts realized at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Take to Auction will have another Marvel super-hero themed PT Cruiser painted live, December 22, 2000, in the courtyard of Las Olas Riverfront in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The one-of-a-kind car will then be listed on eBay Motors to benefit the City of Hope Cancer Center. Other planned live performances and auctions include a General Motors Hummer H2 and the hot-rod styled Chrysler Prowler.
