Center 7 Creates Multi-Tier, Scalable Oracle E-Commerce Environment
and Achieves Industry's Largest iStore Implementation
Center 7 Inc., a leading Management Service Provider (MSP), a certified Oracle(R) (Nasdaq:ORCL) iStore hosting partner, and a Sun Microsystems (Nasdaq:SUNW) SunTone(SM) certified hosting partner, today announced its ProfitCenter(SM) multi-tier, scalable hosting environment for Oracle's customer-facing CRM products.
Center 7 currently hosts the nation's largest Oracle iStore implementation on a combination of Sun Enterprise servers, supporting more than 500 concurrent users, an industry first. Sun's robust, reliable architecture enables this fully redundant, scalable model.
Oracle iStore is a customizable e-commerce application that enables businesses to build, deploy, and manage online storefronts. It integrates with the other "best in class" Oracle applications, such as order entry, configurator, and financials.
"Until now, iStore has been installed only on large, single servers running in the same instance as the Oracle database," said Mark Jensen, Oracle partner manager at Center 7. "We realized the disparate needs of our customers' sales and financial departments.
"Our ProfitCenter design allows clients to run e-commerce in a separate environment and apply computing power where it is needed: on the front-end for high-volume sites, and on the back-end for complex ordering cycles. We devoted significant R&D efforts to tune the iStore environment, get the bugs out, and apply the patches so it could support 500 concurrent users and maintain the ability to scale from there."
Jensen added, "If business were to double for our customers, we could go in, integrate more hardware, and scale the system to handle even larger numbers of users. No one else is doing this with iStore on such a grand scale."
Kelly Phillipps, Center 7's chief technology officer, praised the capabilities of iStore. "After evaluating all the players in the market, we selected the Oracle iStore e-business suite for specializing our ProfitCenter hosting services.
"What's more, our experience on the leading edge of iStore development means iStore customers who host with us can leverage our knowledge base and expertise gained from such a large implementation."
