BURLINGAME, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 5, 2001

Papken S. Der Torossian, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Silicon Valley Group, Inc. has been elected to the Board of Directors of ANTs software inc. (OTC:BB:ANTS), a developer of advanced technologies to accelerate

online transaction processing (OLTP).

Silicon Valley Group is a leading multi-product manufacturer of automated wafer processing equipment for the worldwide semiconductor industry. Mr. Der Torossian joined SVG as president when it was a small company in 1984. He built the company to its present high-tech leadership position with an annual sales rate in the recent December quarter of $1 billion.

Mr. Der Torossian said he was "honored by the opportunity to join the ANTs board because the company's technology has the potential to solve major problems that have inhibited the speed of traditional database systems. In all my years in Silicon Valley, few companies have excited me as much, and I look forward to helping bring ANTs technology to commercialization."

"We are absolutely delighted that Mr. Der Torossian has become a director," said ANTs CEO Francis K. (Frank) Ruotolo. "His wealth of experience with high performance technologies will be invaluable as ANTs continues to grow." Mr. Ruotolo also noted that due to the "substantial strengthening of the Board of Directors in recent months," ANTs was eliminating its Board of Advisors. "We appreciate their counsel in enabling the company to get to its current level," he said.

Mr. Der Torossian is the recipient of numerous industry awards and commendations, including the 1999 EHS Leadership Award from the Pacific Business and Industrial Association and the Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Electronics Association for three years and was Chairman of its Silicon Valley Council.

Mr. Der Torossian is also an active member of Band of Angels, a Silicon Valley group that invests and guides early round venture investments. He holds a B.S.M.E. degree from MIT and a M.S.M.E. degree from Stanford University.
