Business Editors & High-Tech Writers

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 2002

IFS has signed a $1.5 million contract with Southwall Technologies Inc. to provide IFS manufacturing and maintenance applications and services.

Southwall, a manufacturer of thin film coatings

for automotive, architectural, and electronic display applications, will implement the software at two U.S. locations.

"With IFS Applications(TM), we're getting an IT solution that supports both our demanding mixed-mode manufacturing requirements and our maintenance needs," said Southwall Chief Information Officer Lois Cornell.

"By fully integrating manufacturing and maintenance with our other standard business applications, we can streamline our operations and more quickly solve global business issues. Southwall will have the tools to analyze information and make more timely and thorough business decisions. Also, to ensure more rapid ROI and increase our flexibility, IFS will be hosting our IT solution."

"Southwall wanted the ability to shift manufacturing operations from one facility to another and/or to outsource some of their manufacturing," said Terje Vangbo, IFS North America president.

"The combination of IFS' component technology and our hosted solution provides them with the flexibility to quickly and easily transfer manufacturing operations to different geographic sites while reducing costs."

Southwall plans to implement IFS finance, distribution, manufacturing, sales force automation, PDM, HR, supply chain planning, and maintenance applications.
