CUPERTINO, Calif., & LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2001

Chordiant Software Inc. (Nasdaq: CHRD), a leader in Unifying Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Solutions, today announced Chordiant Selling Director, an e-selling software product that enables Global 1000 enterprises to quickly produce dynamic, Web-based interactions targeted at their millions of individual customers.

"The addition of Selling Director is a solid step toward realizing our vision of a complete, unified e-marketing, e-selling and e-servicing platform," said Chordiant chairman and CEO Sam Spadafora. "It is expected to generate revenue by enabling enterprises to effectively sell complex products and services on the Web. Selling Director interacts with the Chordiant platform to deliver intelligent select/configure/quote interactions for individual consumers."

With Selling Director, customers will be able to develop more dynamic, engaging Web interactions to increase close rates that will maximize revenue and customer acquisition, while reducing selling costs.

For the developer, Selling Director capitalizes on J2EE and XML standards, making it faster and easier to create, implement and maintain superior Web interactions to reduce development costs, speed deployment and reduce ongoing maintenance expenses. Selling Director also integrates easily into an enterprise's legacy systems, leveraging information stored in enterprise databases, making it easy to connect with enterprise databases to streamline interactions. Selling Director also integrates into existing Web infrastructures to leverage performance and availability.

"Our application is extremely complex, so we needed a product that could generate real-time interactions for thousands of individual customers," said Paul Harrison, director of development for InsureZone. "It's our expectation that the intelligent interactions created by Selling Director will make it easier for our individual customers to purchase services, ultimately increasing our close rates."

About Selling Director

Selling Director is a result of last month's Java server technology purchase from ActionPoint. The resulting thin-client, Web-based application will allow consumers direct access to enterprise business services and provide a single view for individual consumers, thereby exploiting Chordiant's Intelligent Customer Interaction Management (ICIM) platform.

Using Selling Director, individuals experience a dynamic dialogue that guides them to make selections based on the information they provide. This dynamic interaction reduces the likelihood that the customer will abandon the transaction before it has been completed. Intelligent recommendations and guidance are offered through user-friendly wizards or pop-up messages to help individuals make smart, accurate choices based on their unique situations and requirements. Selling Director automatically populates fields with information pulled from enterprise systems such as policy numbers, discount profiles or order history, providing users with an accurate and efficient interaction.

Chordiant's "Brains in the Browser" technology pushes business logic down into the browser and onto the individual's desktop in the form of DHTML and Javascript, minimizing round trips to the server. Individuals are informed instantly about choices, and entries are validated in real time.
