The patent outlines the process for monitoring how Windows applications load and the assignment of its DLLs to memory. Application developers typically select the default DLL address assigned by their compiler. When Windows attempts to load applications requesting the same DLL address, a "relocation" or re-assignment is required. The re-assignment of addresses is memory intensive - and ultimately creates a drag on resources.

"By eliminating the relocations, we can help users regain lost memory and see significant improvement in the performance of their systems," said Kevin Goodman, CEO of RTO Software. Citrix Systems is the first to license the technology and is already making it available to their users as part of Citrix Presentation Server(TM) 4.0.
