AM Communications Inc. announces the SIMS product.

QUAKERTOWN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1996--AM Communications (AMCM) announced Monday the introduction of the Scanning Ingress Management System (SIMS) for use within the broadband telecommunications industry.

The SIMS product, in conjunction with the OmniVU(TM) system software

provides a significant tool for managing and controlling the return path noise that interferes with many Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) plant. This technology is currently being delivered to domestic and international customers.

The SIMS ingress analyzer is a headend unit which monitors the return path spectrum of up to eight inputs. This SIMS unit is typically configured to signal an alarm if the background noise or ingress level rises above a user-defined threshold.

"We believe noise abatement technologies are critical and essential to monitoring and managing the two way broadband telecommunications networks," commented Joe Rocci, vice president, Product Technology. "The SIMS product, which is OmniStat(TM) compliant, fully integrates with the OmniVU(TM) control system to accurately identify the source of system noise in two-way transmission plants.

"Operators are then able to make system level adjustments through the OmniStat(TM) element management system to minimize the effects of the identified noise source. The design and deployment of this technology further defines AM's market leadership position and our desire to proactively support the requirements of the industry."

AM Communications Inc. (AMCM), founded in 1974, is a market leader in the design, development and integration of network monitoring systems for the broadband telecommunications industry.

AM provides system solutions through its OEM partnerships with the industry leaders (i.e. ADC, General Instrument, Philips, Scientific Atlanta, SEE Telecom) and directly to end user customers.
