Belkin Components, today's most respected and well-known manufacturer of Universal Serial Bus (USB) connectivity products and FireWire digital video editing devices, today introduced its new FireWire/USB Combo PCI

Card (F5U008-PC, F5U008-MAC) and its new Dual Serial Adapter for Mac (F5U114-Mac).

Designed to offer the best of both worlds for Mac and PC users, the Belkin FireWire/USB Combo PCI Card adds three 400 Mbps FireWire ports (2 external, 1 internal) and two 12Mbps USB ports to the user's computer. The Belkin FireWire/USB Combo PCI Card saves the user's computer PCI slots by installing these two technologies into one slot. It allows the user to capture digital video onto their PC or Mac and edit with the included MGI software (for PC users) and Strata software (for Mac users). The Belkin FireWire/USB Combo PCI Card also offers the user the ability to hot swap FireWire disk drives, scanners, and other peripherals.

The Dual Serial Adapter, designed specifically for Mac users, connects up to 2 serial devices simultaneously via the USB port on your Mac or iMac computer. It supports serial communication of up to 460 Kbps and supports Mac OS 8.6 or higher. The Dual Serial Adapter offers plug-and-play capabilities so the user can connect legacy serial devices to their Mac computer with ease. One of the ports on the Dual Serial Adapter emulates the printer port from a Mac computer, thus allowing the user to connect most Macintosh compatible serial printers to the adapter.

The FireWire/USB Combo PCI Card and the Dual Serial Adapter are scheduled to begin shipping in December 2000 and will have an MSRP of $109.99 and $79.99 respectively.
