More Than Just a Map: Customers Access Individualized Directions for Locating Stores Nearest Their Homes Via Internet
Unlike simple map display tools, Genasys' new Spatial Web Broker allows companies to provide their Web site users with access to sophisticated spatial analysis that provides custom directions.
"Most Web mapping tools are only able to draw a map of the area around an office," said Mike Fields, chief operating officer of Genasys. For customers accessing the home page of a large department store, this information realistically translates into direct customer patronage in the near future.
"Applications for this product are unlimited. Accessing the home page of an auto club, for example, members might plan complete vacations simply by selecting their destination cities and accommodation preferences," Fields said. "Utilizing Genasys' Spatial Web Broker, the auto club Web site could provide detailed maps with specific directions from one destination to the next, list appropriate hotel or camping accommodations within the selected price range and offer restaurant suggestions. In addition, the auto club home page could link members to additional related Web sites."
