DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 2003

Jabber, Inc., a leading developer of secure instant messaging and presence-enabled communications, whose investors include Webb Interactive Services, Inc. (OTCBB: WEBB) and France Telecom (NYSE: FTE), today

reported that strong sales of commercial licenses have pushed its user base past the 3 million seat mark.

Jabber, Inc.'s customers include large enterprises such as Hewlett-Packard and the Walt Disney Internet Group, and service providers such as France Telecom, AT&T, and BellSouth. Commercial customers select Jabber, Inc.'s eXtensible Communications Platform (XCP) to deploy secure, scalable instant messaging and to presence-enable other applications and services as part of a real-time communication solution.

"Jabber's growth is a function of a couple of factors," said Rob Balgley, CEO and President of Jabber, Inc. "First, most large companies have come to recognize IM as a mission critical application, in spite of the downturn in IT spending, and require the kind of control, security and integration capabilities that are unique to Jabber. Second, since the Jabber platform provides native interoperability and open architecture, customers are able to easily extend the benefits of real time communications into other collaborative applications such as customer service, workflow, supply chain, and knowledge management."

Jabber, Inc.'s eXtensible Communications Platform is based on the eXtensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP), which achieved IETF Working Group status in October of 2002 and is quickly moving towards full ratification.

"Jabber, Inc. has always been a proponent of interoperability because it serves our customers' best interests, as well as those of the Internet community at large," Balgley said. "The creation of the IETF Working Group has further accelerated customer interest in Jabber, while validating Jabber, Inc.'s continued commitment to interoperability."
