Email Executive(TM) Developed for the BREW(TM) System Supports

IMAP, POP & SSL

Tourmaline Networks Inc., a leading supplier of wireless email solutions for corporations, mobile professionals

and consumers, today announced its Email Executive application, developed for QUALCOMM's BREW solution. Email Executive provides mobile phone users a fast, efficient and secure way to access email, and reap the productivity advantages of wireless access.

The application can be easily downloaded from an operator's network to the user's BREW-enabled handset. Users can immediately read, create, reply and send email messages; store up to 50 contacts for easy addressing; and create and store convenient fast-response messages for use while on the go. In addition, users can access up to seven IMAP4/POP3 email accounts stored behind corporate firewalls on Microsoft(R) Exchange(R) or Lotus(R) Domino(R) mail servers, or hosted by public Internet service providers. Email Executive provides end-to-end security to safeguard corporate messages in a wireless environment by supporting the Internet standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.

"Email Executive connects handsets directly to the corporate mail server, thus allowing businesses to forgo several costly and time consuming aspects of enabling mobile email access. These include the installation of enterprise-side servers, the management of desktop or laptop synchronizing software and the cost of purchasing a second device to send and receive emails for employees," said Basil Abifaker, vice president of product development for Tourmaline Networks. "The openness of the BREW solution has enabled our team of developers to create a product that provides mobile business users with features and functionality not previously available on handsets, for the low price of $4.99 a month."

"The Email Executive offering demonstrates the viability of BREW-based wireless productivity applications for the enterprise marketplace, enabling employees to access their corporate email via their mobile phone -- boosting productivity and saving companies, large and small, the cost of having to buy extra mobile devices," said Mike Yuen, director of BREW developer relations for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "Tourmaline Networks has capitalized on the BREW system's advantages, and has created a powerful application with recurring value to operators working to grow their enterprise customer base."
