Tracking and Billing Employee Time: Billing Rate Levels

QuickBooks allows you to set a default billable rate for an employee or even to bill the same service item at different rates for different employee groups.

QuickBooks allows you to set a default billable rate for an employee or even to bill the same service item at different rates for different employee groups. This capability allows you to maintain a single service list item for invoicing while automatically billing based on the employee who performed the service. The ability to create billing rate profiles that can be assigned to multiple employees allows you to set specific rates for multiple service items.

In the examples below, we have created a billing rate level called "Draftsman" and one for "Licensed Architect". For the first, we set the hourly rate for "Blueprint changes" to $35 and for the latter, we set the hourly rate to $75.

We can then, asiign these billing rate levels to other employees as shown below.
