Daly Communications Group plans expansion

MANLIUS - A local information-technology and technical-writing firm plans to expand its work force in the next couple years.
David Daly, president of Daly Communications Group, says he plans to add five to 10 new employees in the next two years. The company currently has eight employees.
Daly founded his company in 2003 as a technical-writing firm, preparing manuals for products like electronics. Daly Communications still provides technical-writing services, but the areas of the business that have been seeing rapid growth recently are its IT and Web services.
On the Web-site side, Daly Communications provides development, design, site optimization, and marketing, Daly says.
"The [technical writing] is very predictable and steady and the growth is incremental," he says. "But the size optimization is taking off like mad and the IT services are as well."
Daly says services like Website design and development are rapidly becoming commodities. Many programs exist that people can use to design basic sites themselves, he adds.
