Blogging For Your Business

Saturday, March 8 2008

I recently attended a tele-seminar through WordPress on a topic many of us are unfamiliar with - blogging.  I had always thought blogging was people's personal opinions and ideas about their own lives, music, food, etc.  but I learned through this seminar that blogging is a very valuable tool in bringing prospective clients to your business.  Now I should have known this, since I have been a blogger for All Business for quite some time now, but somehow, this escaped my thought process.

Through the use of tag words, categories, titles and content, your knowledge about what you do best can be passed on for everyone to read about.  People will comment on your articles, they will email you with questions and before you know it, people are looking to you for advice online.

Nate Whitehill was one of the people hosting the conference and made the following suggestions.  Writing three to five times per week is a good number of articles.  You may invite people to sign up to receive your blog through email.  Encourage people to comment on your articles by asking questions at the end of your blogs.  Nate designs blogs for companies that are a little more detailed than just the average blog.

I actually set up a couple of blogs during the telephone conference, www.osibusinessservices.wordpress.com and www.jilliandearing.wordpress.com and found it to be very user-friendly.  The account was free and navigation through the screens was very easy.  The support staff is wonderful if you email them with questions so I would highly recommend WordPress for your initial blogging experience.

You may be wondering why I set up two different blogs with essentially the same information.  I wanted to test the different tag words, categories, titles, etc. to see if it would make any difference on the search engines since I really have no real-world experience dealing with internet search engines.  It actually did make a difference so take some time to read up on blogging and set up a free account and get started today. You have absolutely nothing to lose!
