booktech.com. (AMEX: BTC) announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year contract from University of Maryland University College (UMUC) that calls for the delivery of paper and digital course documents to the University's approximately 70,000 students worldwide.
booktech.com will obtain all copyright clearances and permissions required before printing, distributing, and delivering the coursework materials in a wide array of modes, including bound and printed highly customized "coursepacks," individual articles, electronic downloads or CDs.
Currently, the booktech.com digital library contains more than 70,000 in-demand articles from which professors may access choice articles used by other innovators on a worldwide basis. Utilizing the booktech.com program, UMUC faculty will be able to compile course and other filed-relevant collections within the library that may be reused or reconfigured for different classes. The booktech.com library is expected to grow exponentially, and the Company is committed to classify and manage its content in order to optimize value to UMUC professors and students, as well as other users.
University of Maryland University College is one of 11 accredited degree-granting institutions in the University System of Maryland. For 50 years, the University has fulfilled its principal mission: serving adult, part-time students through high-quality distributed education. Classroom sites can be found throughout Maryland, Washington, D.C. and northern Virginia. UMUC courses are delivered to U.S. military personnel at over 150 overseas locations in 28 countries. Students can also "attend class" from anywhere in the world by connecting electronically via the Internet to hundreds of electronic UMUC courses. Currently, the University offers 13 bachelor's and 10 master's degree programs completely online via WebTycho, the University's state-of-the-art interactive classroom software. The student portal will facilitate the selection of required materials, payment and delivery. UMUC managers will be able to access operational data associated with sales, distribution options chosen and permission status via a secure web page.
