Are you working to get the merchandise you carry into a blog? If not, you may want to consider it. Why? Internet Retailer reported last week that 29 percent of women who read blogs have made a purchase decision based on something they read in a blog. Likewise, 28 percent decided against a purchase based on something they picked up in a blog.
The results, according to the authors of the "BlogHer/Compass Partners 2008 Social Media Study" point to the growing influence of social media on shoppers.
More results from the survey, as reported in Internet Retailer: 12 percent of women who read blogs for new information consider bloggers highly reliable; 34 percent, very reliable; and 50 percent somewhat reliable.
Whatsmore, 11 percent of women who read blogs for advice or recommendations consider bloggers highly reliable. Another 32 percent find them very reliable, and 52 percent find them somewhat reliable.
The results of this study make blogging seem an important way of getting the word out. What are you waiting for? (The content of the Internet Retailer story is the property of Vertical Web Media.)
