FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 2000
Webversa, a leader in Voice-to-Enterprise (V2E) technology services, and PenguinRadio today announced an agreement to voice-enable the PenguinRadio database in order to provide phone access to all available Internet
PenguinRadio is a leading provider of next-generation Internet audio technology, content, and appliances designed to revolutionize the distribution of radio content and other audio content via the Internet - with or without a PC.
The PenguinRadio, currently under development, is an Internet accessible radio that works with an existing stereo system to bring thousands of radio stations that broadcast on the Internet directly into a stereo -- no PC needed. PenguinRadio is also beta testing voice-enabled phone access to its database of over 5,300 streams. Users of PenguinRadio's Phone Radio Analog service will call a phone number to be connected to the PenguinRadio database, which has been voice-enabled by Webversa and speak the call name of the radio station or programming to which they wish to listen. The requested radio station or programming will stream directly through the phone to the listener, providing instant access to local programming from around the globe.
"Mobile users want access to local information, whether it's corporate databases or hometown news and sports," said Janet C. Wylie, Webversa's president and CEO. "PenguinRadio can deliver that to their users' homes and offices. With the addition of Webversa Voice(TM), our managed service, those listeners will be able to access real-time, local broadcasts and audio content no matter where they are, using any telephone."
"Our work with Webversa will allow us to distribute our aggregated traditional and Internet-only radio stations and other audio streams to next generation devices such as phones, Internet home appliances, Internet car radios, and PDA's," said Andrew Leyden, president and CEO of PenguinRadio.
The service is expected to launch in a pilot phase within 30 days.
