Intergraph streamlines process and power industry information management with PDME.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 1996--Intergraph Software Solutions today announced version 2.0 of its Plant Data Management Environment (PDME), software designed to meet the information management needs in the process and power industries.

Intergraph's PDME solution is based on

DM2, its scaleable enterprisewide information resource management solution. PDME provides data model extensions, incorporates additional workflow processes and a tailored user interface that meets the expectations of end users in the process and power industries.

"The PDME industry template for DM2 minimizes the degree of customization needed for specific customers and significantly shortens the up-front implementation phase. This enables users to move into full production much more quickly and at less cost," said Dr. Tony Crawford, vice president of Intergraph's Technical Information Management and Delivery product center.

"Our experience in the process and power industry, combined with our information management expertise, enables Intergraph to provide a solution that effectively manages deliverables from our Plant Design System (PDS). The PDME solution based on DM2 underscores our long term commitment to provide solutions that address the needs of the process and power industries," Crawford said.

That combination has not gone unnoticed by industry observers.

"By our forecast, Intergraph will lead the 3D plant design software industry in 1996 with more than 51 percent of worldwide revenues," said Bruce Jenkins, vice president of Daratech Inc., a Cambridge, Mass.-based market research firm. "Users in this field tell us a key goal is to leverage the value of their technical databases throughout the plant lifecycle. Intergraph's strategy for achieving a shortcut to a well-thought-out information management solution deserves serious consideration by plant owner/operators and engineering/construction firms alike," Jenkins said.

Open Systems for Technical and Non-Technical Users

PDME and the entire DM2 suite adhere closely to Intergraph's commitment to open systems and its support of industry standards.

PDME manages workflows, documents, and drawings and includes support for raster, spreadsheet, word processing, ASCII and CAD files such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.

Intergraph built DM2 on core object-oriented information management software from Metaphase. DM2 software and services leverage Intergraph's vertical industry experience in the federal/transportation, utilities, manufacturing and building and process markets.

It provides both technical and non-technical users with a comprehensive solution for managing plant information on the desktop.
