FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 1995--Lam Research Corp. (NASDAQ:LRCX) announced today that it has introduced Fast Access to Critical Solutions (FACS), an interactive CD-ROM-based multimedia software service consisting of Lam's technical memos.
The second offering in Lam's family of On Site Knowledge Management software products, FACS serves as a reference library of technical data pertaining to Lam's sophisticated process equipment used to manufacture advanced semiconductor chips.
FACS addresses industry requirements for critical tool information that is easily accessible in the fab environment, including troubleshooting and diagnostics, maintenance and calibration procedures, system drawings and schematics, upgrade information, and best-known methods. Such information is essential to efficient equipment operation. Rapid access to this information can significantly improve cost-of-ownership variables such as mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) and mean-time-to-clean (MTTC).
According to John Osborne, Lam's vice president of customer support and corporate quality, Lam worked closely with its customers to understand their on-line information requirements when developing FACS. "Lam has a dedicated in-house department focused on the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of each On Site Knowledge Management product. Our goal with this program is to improve the productivity of Lam equipment by providing customers powerful, user-friendly software tools."
With FACS, Lam's technical memo library is captured on a single CD-ROM that is both cleanroom compatible and portable. While paper distribution necessitates information retrieval and storage in chronological order, FACS provides Lam customers with a powerful, compact, and electronic means of organizing, accessing, and customizing the most current tool information available. FACS allows multilevel search capabilities and facilitates the acquisition of customer specific information, thereby optimizing uptime of Lam equipment.
The FACS service includes historical memos for the Advanced Capability Rainbow and Transformer Coupled Plasma (TCP) series of plasma etch systems. In addition, customers subscribing to the five-year service will receive quarterly updates of all future Lam technical memos released prior to April 1, 2000, at which time they will have the option to renew the service. To order, customers should contact their local Lam sales office, or call 800/LAM-HELP, specifying part number 403-240190-001.
