WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18, 1997--D2K Incorporated, the leading provider of end-to-end knowledge distribution systems, announced today Tapestry 2.0. This product release includes enhancements in mainframe, mid-range, and package application sources as well as new targets. Additionally,
Edward Young, president and CEO of D2K explained, "D2K's goal is to bring data currently trapped in databases, applications and warehouses to the end user in a format they can easily use. To that end, Tapestry's end-to-end solution extracts, transforms, moves and loads data to the warehouse or mart, and then delivers that information to the desktop.
"In release 2.0, we've strengthened Tapestry's ability to scale up, from departmental to enterprise solutions, along with the customer's requirements. By tracking the multiple heterogeneous sources and complex transactions in a single meta data catalog, reconciliation of the data, and its meaning, is automatic. Additionally, by supporting Oracle and Informix parallel loaders, customers can work within the ever-decreasing window available for warehouse refreshes," continued Young.
Eric Lan, vice president of engineering for D2K noted, "Tapestry's ability to scale to the customer's needs is supported from many angles. From day one, our extensible, object oriented transformation engine included many transformations and the ability to plug in user defined functions. With this capability, customers can easily wrap in their own transformation and cleansing requirements. This flexibility delivers the most comprehensive engine-based transformations available today.
"To develop the operations management side of warehousing," continued Lan, "D2K has added a new statistics module for Tapestry 2.0 called Metrics. By integrating Metrics with event-driven scheduling, messaging capabilities, and Internet access -- all previously available with Tapestry -- we've created a complete package which will enable systems administration, notification, and load balancing from anywhere in the world."
