PaySys(TM)

International, Inc. (www.paysys.com), a leading provider of credit card processing software, today announced PaySys.DataHouse(TM), a data warehouse module for VisionPLUS(TM), the company's comprehensive card management software for handling retail, bank card and consumer loans.

"PaySys.DataHouse reduces costs and implementation times by providing an 'out of the box' solution for extracting data from VisionPLUS and populating the data warehouse," said PaySys CTO David Black. "In this way, PaySys is leading the natural evolution from custom solutions to packaged data warehousing."

Black further explained that the module also allows users to perform a range of data retrieval and analysis functions typical to the payment processing industry. However, PaySys.DataHouse is also fully customizable to meet a company's unique data retrieval and analysis requirements.

Until now, data warehousing has been available only as a custom solution from third-party vendors. These solutions often result in long development cycles, since time is required for vendors to learn the underlying transaction application and data, build the extraction routines, and design and populate the warehouse. Once the data warehouse is in place, companies often face complex maintenance requirements to keep it synchronized with updates made to the transaction application.

By contrast, the data extraction and data population routines are pre-designed by PaySys as part of PaySys.DataHouse. This provides a standardized approach to the 'building' components of the data warehouse, while continuing to allow freedom to design and perform data queries and produce reports as user needs dictate. In addition, because PaySys supplies both VisionPLUS and PaySys.DataHouse, new releases of the transaction application will be accompanied by the required changes to enable the data ware house module to continue to work as well.

With PaySys.DataHouse, companies can fully leverage the vast amount of cardholder data in VisionPLUS. For example, corporate users and even consumers will be able to access current account and transactional information from their workstations or via the Internet. Transactional information can be accessed at both the corporate and store level at various levels of detail and summary. Corporate users will be able to perform a wide variety of drill-down and period comparisons based on a range of criteria, use accumulated data to forecast trends and credit-spending patterns, and enhance decision support, for example.

In addition to the toolset and ready-to-use models, queries and analyses provided with PaySys.DataHouse, customers can also apply and use tools of their own choosing. This may be important for companies that already have a data retrieval/reporting toolset with which their end-users are familiar. With this choice, companies will begin with a 'blank screen' and will be responsible for building their own models and queries, and for maintenance of the toolset. By comparison, companies that use the PaySys.DataHouse toolset can begin leveraging warehouse data immediately with pre-designed models. PaySys plans to regularly provide additional pre-designed models to further expand the range of ready-to-use data-retrieval and analysis options.

PaySys.DataHouse is also fully customizable through changes in the software's parameters and control records. Development services are available from PaySys for more comprehensive customization efforts.

PaySys.DataHouse will be available 3Q 1997 and will operate with Windows NT and Microsoft SQL Server, with support for other platforms and databases to be announced later.
