SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2001
Be-Bee Inc.(TM), of San Diego, a software development company specializing in Artificial Intelligence technologies, announces that is has acquired the assets of Solutions-United(TM), the developer of the (!metaMarker)(TM) engine and other Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies.
Be-Bee intends to market Solutions-United's (!metaMarker) engine as part of its message filtering, managing and monitoring applications for contact centers, enterprise email and intelligence intercepts. In addition, the company will pursue licensing opportunities with companies who want to add NLP technologies to their search, data mining and knowledge management applications. The (!metaMarker) engine is already licensed to Syracuse University's Center for Natural Language Processing (CNLP) and is in use with research projects for a number of high profile companies including AT&T, Unilever and Raytheon.
"Solutions-United's conceptual NLP technologies are the deepest and most complete of any NLP system available today," according to Justin Nguyen, CEO of Be-Bee Inc. "We are excited about the prospects of bringing these 'smart' message management and monitoring products to market."
(!metaMarker) had its genesis as part of a government sponsored project designed to establish boundary control of sensitive information within the intelligence community. This conceptual NLP-based product called DataShield was tested and compared during this project with statistical systems for automatically reviewing and controlling the flow of classified information across organizational boundaries.
According to an article published in the May, 2001 edition of ONLINE magazine, "The test results, run on 112 messages plus attachments, showed that the conceptual approach outperformed the keyword approach in terms of messages correctly blocked and messages correctly released. The keyword commercial system had scores of 70 percent precision and 38 percent recall; while the DataShield system had scores of 96 percent precision and 99 percent recall." (Recall indicates how well a system does at finding all relevant entities and precision is the proportion of identified entities that are relevant.)
Be-Bee's products based on the (!metaMarker) engine -- B-Message(TM), B-Monitor(TM) and B-Intercept(TM) -- filter electronic messaging accurately and then route it to the appropriate area for response. Be-Bee's message products are ready for deployment, and the company plans extensive marketing efforts to contact centers, enterprises needing email monitoring, and the intelligence community in the upcoming months. Demonstrations are available on request.
